Cape Town — Minister of Public Work and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, said there would be no land grabs or any confiscation of land in South Africa, despite what Donald Trump has claimed.
Donald Trump announced that he would be cutting all funding to South Africa amid claims that South Africa is confiscating land and mistreating people based on class.
“It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention. A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see. The United States won’t stand for it, we will act. Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed!” he said.

According to BusinessLIVE, Minister Macpherson was speaking to the reception at the Mining Indaba in Cape Town on Monday and he said investor confidence was linked to policy certainty.
“It is, therefore, imperative that SA provides a clear, predictable regulatory environment that drives long-term investment,” Macpherson said. He added that there was a misconception about the Expropriation Act.
“I want to be unequivocal: No one in SA is having their land confiscated. As the minister of public works and infrastructure, land grabs will never be allowed. This is my commitment to the people of SA and our partners around the world,” Macpherson said,
According to IOL, Macpherson said the Act sets a clear legal framework under the expropriation takes place, with due processes and court oversights and said Section 25 of the Constitution enshrined property rights in the highest law of the country.
This government is committed to working with international partners — not against them — to ensure investor confidence remains strong. As the Minister responsible for this bill, I am also committed to ensuring that it is constitutional and that there will be no arbitrary land grabs by the state in South Africa,” Macpherson said.
The land issue has sparked concern among many people about how much land will be grabbed or sold.
This evening, I spoke on the margins of the Mining Indaba in Cape Town, where I emphasised to investors that no property in South Africa will be confiscated, nor will land grabs take place.
