Cape Town – The ANC has denied claims that it approached former president Jacob Zuma or his uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party to join the Government of National Unity (GNU).
This follows a leaked voice note, allegedly of Zuma, rejecting a proposal to join the GNU and a provincial coalition in KwaZulu-Natal. In the recording, Zuma suggests the unity plan aimed to later exclude the DA.
“They are planning to come and convince me. They said the political party does not belong to an individual, it belongs to all of us. Our members were told to convince me to accept the proposal made by the ANC to have three parties take over the country,” Zuma is allegedly heard saying in the recording.
