Cape Town – Expelled uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party member Jabulani Khumalo plans to attend the first sitting of the National Assembly to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP), despite his expulsion and clashes with the party.
Khumalo’s name remains at the top of the party’s final list for Parliament.
In a statement, Khumalo called on the 57 other MK Party members to attend the initial session of Parliament’s seventh administration.
“Should any MK member of parliament not avail themselves for understandable fear of victimisation by Mr Zuma and his clique, will not in itself be basis for parliament not to continue with its business of swearing in members of parliament and continue with its scheduled business on the date chosen by the Chief Justice.

“Mr Zuma will not continue to abuse our democratic processes, the will of the people and continue to undermine our Parliament and other constitutional institutions such as our courts and not least their leader, Chief Justice,” Khumalo said.
The final list includes three other expelled members: Lebogang Moepeng, Rochelle Davidson, and Bhekizenzo Manzini, the latter representing the party in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature.
These members were expelled in April for attempting to destabilise the party.
Khumalo criticised the party’s efforts to block the first parliamentary sitting as misguided and embarrassing.
