CapeTown – Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy president, Kenny Kunene has reportedly said there are fears that Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini could be poisoned and killed in holding cells.
Dlamini was arrested on Thursday evening shortly after leaving the Kaya FM studios where he had been interviewed.
His arrest came after a case was opened against him and members of the movement by a Soweto resident Victor Ramerafe, 59, whose home was allegedly ransacked on Sunday.
Dlamini had been expected to appear in court on Friday on charges of assault and theft. However, the state had requested 48 hours to gather more evidence, according to Sowetan Live.

This meant that Dlamini would spend the weekend behind bars.
According to News24, Kunene claimed that heavily armed Crime Intelligence officers had arrested Dlamini, and he believed that the leader of the anti-migrant movement would be poisoned behind bars.
“His arrest indicates that someone wants him dead. We need to take precautions. We have agreed with his lawyers to arrange that only his mother gives him food. He could be poisoned in a police cell. Steve Biko and other leaders died in police custody,” Kunene said, as quoted by the report.
Kunene also said during an interview with eNCA that arrangements had also been made for Dlamini to “be put in a cell alone”.
