‘It is unwise not to vote for the ANC’ – Zuma

Cape Town – Former South African President Jacob Zuma has expressed his unwavering support for the ANC as the primary vehicle for achieving a better life in the country.

Jacob Zuma addressed both ANC members and the general public in Nyoni Branch Ward 10, located within the General Gizenga Mpanza Region of KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

He emphasised his commitment to campaign for the ANC in the upcoming 2024 general elections, stressing that voting is the essential tool available to the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

Zuma also warned against efforts to weaken the ANC and criticised those leaving the party to form smaller political groups, suggesting that they may be collaborating with forces seeking the ANC’s collapse.

He argued that the shortcomings of individual leaders within the ANC should not be used to judge the entire organisation.

Additionally, Zuma encouraged people to vote for the ANC in the upcoming elections, saying that abstaining from voting due to grievances with specific leaders would hinder the progress made over the years in improving the lives of the indigenous population.

“It is unwise not to vote for the ANC in next year’s general elections because you are aggrieved or because you have a problem with a certain leader. This will never change anything. Instead, such a decision will reverse the gains we have made over years of struggle for the betterment of the lives of indigenous people,” The Citizen quoted the former president as saying.

The ANC is expected to announce an action plan as it approaches the critical phase leading up to the elections, with various prominent figures, including Jacob Zuma, playing pivotal roles in the program.
