Cape Town – Former president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, has said in a statement released on Monday, that he has not ruled out a return to the ANC’s hierarchy, claiming that he has been approached for the position of national chairperson.
“I also wish to confirm that I have been approached by a number of cadres to make myself available for the position of National Chairperson of the ANC, to contribute in the rebuilding of the organisation and to provide direction,” Zuma said.
“I have indicated that I will be guided by the branches of the ANC and that I will not refuse such a call should they deem it necessary for me to serve the organisation again at that level or any other,” he added.
Zuma also showed his support for Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as his ideal to take the party forward.
He also questioned the younger leaders in the ANC, dismissing calls for a generational take-over and suggesting that they should opt for a generational mix.
