Cape Town – The mayor of Umngeni local municipality and Democratic Alliance (DA) Premier candidate for KwaZulu-Natal, Christopher Pappas, has expressed his confidence in leading the province back to its former prosperity.
Pappas was officially named as the Premier candidate in the upcoming 2024 national elections by the DA leader, John Steenhuisen, in front of Durban City Hall on Monday.

His primary task is to bolster electoral support in the province for the upcoming general elections.
“I feel honoured to be chosen. I will stop corruption, and I urge each and every one of you to join me in rescuing the province. Hopelessness and fear are choices, so to overcome them, we must summon our courage. Now, more than ever, it is time to be fearless and to take up responsibility to create a new future,” said Pappas.

If elected, the 32-year-old mayor will become the youngest premier in the province since 1994.
