Cape Town — Former President, Jacob Zuma, does not want corrupt people to be leading his party, saying those who have joined his party from the African National Congress (ANC) come with a scourge of corruption.
Zuma said the MK party has not elected formal leadership structures nor announced premier candidates as he was wary of corrupt people and he wanted to ensure the right candidates were chosen, TimesLIVE reported.
“People keep asking ‘when are you electing structures’ but we are not in a hurry. People these days get into politics because they have other motives. I want to caution you that people who join MK from the ANC bring with them a corruption culture. I don’t want corrupt people here,” Zuma said.

The MK party is looking to become the first party sine 1994 to win a two-thirds majority. The Democratic Alliance (DA) received 1.9 million votes during its first elections (2004), the Congress of the People (COPE) received 1.3 million votes in its first elections (2009), and the EFF received 1.1 million votes during its first elections (2014).
Zuma sent birthday wishes to Malema on his 43rd birthday and said the MK and EFF must work harder than ever to win a two-thirds majority and finally unseat the ANC.
“We must win with two thirds majority and you’ll be saying when I got to this level, I was 43. Enjoy, do whatever you want, but be ready that we must have our two thirds as a black majority in this country. Then we’ll sort out other things thereafter,” Zuma said.
The EFF feels confident that it is ready to win the elections in Gauteng and unseat the ANC. Speaking to party supporters at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, Malema declared “war” against the ANC and said people knew that their lives were going to change for the better if they vote EFF, The Citizen reported.
““We are the only people gathered here with domestic workers, security guards, bus drivers, taxi drivers and others called gardeners. They are part of this festival of the poor. “Let us unite black people to fight against the Oppenheimer money. Let us not be bought by the Oppenheimers.” Malema said.
