Cape Town — BuildOne South Africa (BOSA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, has had enough of the country’s current leadership situation and has reiterated his desire to run for president at this year’s elections.
Maimane has a long history in politics, having led the DA from 2015-2019 before starting his own party – BOSA – in 2022.
He built a strong following from his time at the DA, but ultimately became disilliusioned with the party’s vision to lead the country, stepping away.
Maimane was vocal across his social media pages and wrote a strong message to say he will be running for president, saying the country cannot be led by “thygs” and “racists”.
“I am running for president of South Africa. We can’t have thugs running this nation. We can’t have racists running this nation and we can’t have angry dictators running this country. We need visionary and ethical leadership driven by a deep love for all South Africans.” Maimane said.

According to The Citizen, Maimane outlined his intentions for his presidential campaign, saying he would focus on education, health and unemployment, among others.
“We do that by making sure our townships are places of economic zones where we can invest over R200 billion to create new jobs and wealth for our citizens.,” Maimane said.
Maimane revealed he also had intentions to fix the load shedding crisis by introducing “safe nuclear options”, he would fix Transnet to ensure transport logistics will move exports in and out of the country, while also promising 120 000 extra police officers and specialised corruption courts to fight the scourge on grafts.
