Cape Town — Former president, Jacob Zuma, has said that former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party leader, Jabulani Khumalo, has no right to try and represent the party in Parliament.
In an interview with EWN at his home in Nkandla in KZN, Zuma said Khumalo should not be allowed to be in Parliament on behalf of the MK Party.
Zuma said he refused to delve into Khumalo’s legal fight over the ownership of the MK Party.
“He’s not in our party, he was chased away. He has the letter, it was written, I gave it to him, he was sitting here when I gave it to him.” Zuma said.
Zuma said that Khumalo must resign from the party, and that the law should not allow anyone without a political home to serve in the National Assembly.
“There’s no parliament that’s going to force you with a member that’s not in your party. He can go there to show his stupidity.” he added.
Khumalo’s matter against the MK Party was heard in the High Court this this week, where judgment was reserved.
Despite their differences, Khumalo still remains the MK party’s number one political candidate.
Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has submitted the list of future MPs to the secretary of Parliament and Khumalo is expected to be the only MK party MP to be sworn in, Scrolla.africa reported.
