In a press release confirming the news, Morero stated: “As part of the City’s dedication to integrity, good governance, and accountability, I have made the decision to place MMC Gwamanda on immediate special leave and to relieve him of all his executive responsibilities.”
The myor said that the allegations would be forwarded to the Speaker of the Council, who will manage the situation in accordance with the established processes and regulations of the Council.
“The Executive Mayor believes that both administrative and political leadership must uphold their oath of office, guided by the code of conduct and ethics, in serving the public office,” read the statement.
