Floyd Shivambu and Busisiwe Mkhwebane welcome Dali Mpofu to MK

Cape Town — Following the announcement that Advocate Dali Mpofu has joined the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, he was welcomed by none other than two former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members.

Mpofu made the decision to leave the EFF for the MK Party and revealed he joined the party as it was the vehicle to drive unity.

“After a lot of soul searching, I’ve taken a decision that I will be joining MK. I’m joining MK because I believe that is the vehicle through which we will achieve the much-needed black and progressive unity so I’m doing so not necessarily to reject any other organisation but at this point in time, in November 2024, I am of the view that the vehicle through which we should drive that unity is uMkhonto we Sizwe,” he said.

In an X post, Mpofu was warmly welcomed by Shivambu, who had his own highly-publicised exit from the EFF. Shivambu described Mpofu as as capable, disciplined and selfless leader.

“Welcome Dali Mpofu, to the movement, which has superior ideological, political and organisational capacity, composure and temperament to unite all the anti-colonial, anti-imperialist and anti-racist progressive forces in South Africa to fight for total political, economic, social, spatial, cultural and knowledge/ideological freedom and emancipation,” Shivambu said.

Shivambu was not the only former EFF member to welcome Mpofu as former public protector and EFF member, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, who joined the MK Party last month, also welcomed Mpofu in an X post of her own.

“Divided we fall and united we conquer, reversal of all gains made by DA, FF Plus and Steve Hofmeyr can only be stopped by uniting all progressive forces, Vuka Darkie Welcome Dali Mpofu,” she said.
