Cape Town — The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) head of elections, Wouter Wessels, said his party would reject any possibilities to enter a coalition with the African National Congress (ANC) or the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Wessles was stationed at the IEC’s Results Operations Centre (ROC) monitoring the leaderboards and interacting with other political parties. He said it was too early to predict how the new government of South Africa will look after the results are announced but he reiterated his stance that the party would never go into a coalition with the ANC and the EFF, The Citizen reported.
“We are very clear that we are not going to get into a coalition with the ANC and the EFF because the ANC got many chances to govern and went in the wrong direction. We cannot enable them to govern further,” he said.

In the past, the FF+ have taken votes off the Democratic Alliance (DA), who had deviated its path away from Afrikaans voters, and growing significantly since the last elections. He described the waiting period as “sinking feeling”.
“We do not know what is going to happen. You can have a feel outside but at the end of the day what counts is what happens on that board up there,” Wessels said.
Wessles was excited over the amount of FF+ supporters who turned up in their numbers but he was disappointed with the way the elections were run.
“We are very worried about a lot of technical problems that are occurring. A lot of polling stations were offline and people were turned away. Very unfortunate,” he said.
