Cape Town — The ANC has been given until 12 December by Ezulweni Investment to settle the R102m debt issue after the company was approached by the party’s veterans.
Ezulweni released a statement saying they would take some time before they proceed with the liquidation against the ANC and gave the party a deadline, IOL reported.
“Ezulweni has decided to ponder and pause in its intention to proceed with the liquidation proceedings against the ANC. “Ezulweni has decided to put on hold its intention to proceed with the liquidation proceedings until the close of business on December 12, 2023,” it said in a statement.
While the ANC has yet to submit a statement, ANC secretary general, Fikile Mbalula, denied the that his party had entered into a deal with the company to provide services.

The company has been involved in a bitter court battle with the ruling party and according to Ezulweni spokesperson, Peter Fernando, the company will not back down, despite spending more than R1m on legal fees, this accoring to Sowetan Live.
“We are prepared to spend more because we are exhausted by their lack of responsibility and accountability. We did not want it to come to this because they are the democratic party that took us out of apartheid, but we have a strong case and we have done everything right. They have to do the right thing,” Fernando said.
Meanwhile, President Ramaphosa has told party leaders that he will handle the scandal himself, starting by consulting the party’s lawyers, Mail & Guardian reported.
The president is a lawyer and he wants to see if the ANC has any prospects of winning this case in the constitutional court. He told us that he wants to review the evidence we have and what was presented in the courts,” a NWC insider said.
