Cape Town — Former Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, has denied rumours that he is the one behind a voice note circulating on social media.
Kodwa, who resigned from his position last week amid a corruption charge, said he strongly denies the charges and will fight to clear his name.
Now, he has been forced to clear the air over the voice note, which has circulated on X.
According to EWN, in the voice note, a man is heard making claims that the African National Congress (ANC) has pushed out radical left-wing parties in favour of white business owners.
The recording, of a man with a deep voice, made allegations against the party president Cyril Ramaphosa, and the South African economy, among other political-related matters.
One post shared on social media platform, X, was littered with comments suggesting that the voice was without a doubt Kodwa’s.
Niyomangala, abanye benu bayokhala!
According to another sell out, former close ‘comrade’ of #ZizKodwa, who is now circulating these audio recordings with glee (eish, there is no honor among thieves!), this is #ZiziKodwa pouring his heart out. Agge shame, I won’t be surprised… pic.twitter.com/emGJeIjgjl

In response, Kodwa said he has taken note of the clip and has denied that he had any role in it, The Citizen reported.
“I have taken note of a voice note remarking on the South African currency and economy that is circulating and purports to be mine. This voice note is fake. It is a distorted message which deliberately attempts to drive a wedge amongst comrades.” he said.
