Cape Town – In an unexpected turn, EFF member Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has praised President Cyril Ramaphosa, defending him as the “most committed” head of state.
Ndlozi, who has previously criticised Ramaphosa, commended the president for transformative policies such as the National Health Insurance Act, Basic Education Laws Amendment, and the Expropriation Act, as well as South Africa’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
He urged the left to reconsider their stance on Ramaphosa, describing him as committed to genuine transformation, despite challenges like the Marikana massacre and the Phala Phala scandal.
“This man is not what we have been told he is. He is truly up to something. Of all SA heads of state, he has come out as the most committed to policies that matter for the most genuine transformation of the living conditions of our people,” Ndlozi wrote on X.

He added: “The left needs to accept this, and rethink its position towards him! Not withstanding Marikana, Phala Phala, CR is on a journey less travelled by many in his position. Worse, under GNU conditions! No puppet of white monopoly capitalism speak and acts like he does!”
This defence comes amid criticism from US President Donald Trump over land expropriation policies, to which Ramaphosa responded, saying that South Africa’s land reform is lawful and inviting dialogue with the US.
“South Africa is a constitutional democracy that is deeply rooted in the rule of law, justice, and equality. The South African government has not confiscated any land,” Ramaphosa said.
