Cape Town – Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema has announced that the party will not appoint a new deputy president to replace Floyd Shivambu until its elective conference later this year.
Shivambu’s resignation, announced at a press briefing, comes after he joined former President Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
Malema described Shivambu’s departure as a significant loss and likened it to the death of his mother.
“When he (Shivambu) sent me a letter yesterday, I felt the same pain when I received the news of the passing away of my mother. Because Floyd to me is not just a comrade – is a bother and will remain a brother even when he pursues his political career differently.

He reassured EFF members of his unwavering loyalty to the party and vowed to remain dedicated to its cause.
The EFF will keep its doors open for Shivambu, and the MK party will utilize his strengths in their organisation.
