Cape Town — EFF leader Julius Malema believes the introduction of his party 10 years ago has changed the behaviour of the country’s youth towards politics.
Malema was speaking at the Free State Ground Forum where he said that the youth, in previous years, were uninterested in politics and that, since the formation of the EFF, they have started to show an interest, SABC News reported.
“You cannot lie to those youth in the universities with R350; you can’t lie to them with RDP houses; you can’t lie to them with food parcels. Even if I’d you give the NSFAS, even if you give them money for accommodation and allowances. You will never bribe them with those types of gifts. All they want is what makes sense. The EFF makes sense. That’s why we are on the side of the EFF,” he said.

Malema said that the party’s “Ground-Forces” must be active in their societies and organise activities to bring communities together. He also praised them for their efforts during the voter registration drive in the Free State.
Malema said that, for the first time, their is a possibility that the ANC could lose power in the upcoming general elections, and he remained optimistic that the EFF could win the elections. He added that analysts agreed that the ANC could drop below 40% of the votes in the Free State.
Meanwhile, Malema also addressed party leader and regional members in Seshego near Polokwane in Limpopo. The township is Malema’s hometown and an EFF stronghold, and Malema reiterated his viewpoint from Bloemfontein by saying the EF ‘will be in power next year’.
“This election is going to be the most important election in the lives of South Africans since 1994. When a person says to you ‘The ANC is going to win the election’, you must recommend a psychiatric hospital because no single normal person can say the ANC is going to win elections next year. The EFF will be governing in Limpopo, in Gauteng, in KZN, in Mpumalanga, in North West, and all over, and that is what we are fighting for,” he said.
