Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has praised his party’s 3rd National People’s Assembly (NPA) as a success during his closing remarks at the conference in Johannesburg.
Over three days, the EFF elected a new leadership team and refined its policies.
Despite speculation about Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s absence, Malema reassured that the event proceeded without controversy, commending the disciplined conduct of the 2,500 attendees.
“There have been numerous attempts to cast doubt and shadow over the credibility and authenticity of our assembly because the aim is to characterise us an organisation of chaos and you proved them all wrong,” EWN quoted Malema as saying.

He emphasised that attempts to discredit the party had been proven wrong, and the newly elected leadership will serve until the 2029 elective conference.
According to Business Day, Malema also expressed willingness to join the government of national unity (GNU) only if the DA is excluded. He suggested the party is positioning itself for a future role in government once the current coalition unravels.
“We are not going into the government to save the ANC, we are going into government to work for our people…Helen Zille is leaving; once [she] is out we are entering,” Malema told delegates.
Despite a decline in national support to 9.5% in the 2024 elections, the EFF remains focused on rebuilding for the 2026 municipal elections.
The party elected a new leadership team, with Goodrich Gardee as deputy president, replacing Floyd Shivambu, who joined Jacob Zuma’s MK Party. Other leadership changes include Nontando Nolutshungu as chairperson and Leigh-Ann Mathys as deputy secretary-general.
