Cape Town – Patricia De Lille, founder of the political party GOOD, has been elected as the national leader at the party’s inaugural congress in Cape Town.
De Lille has led the party since its formation in 2019, and the founding secretary-general, Brett Herron, will continue in his position.
Delegates at the congress also elected nine new provincial representatives.

In her opening speech, De Lille emphasised the need for political cooperation and highlighted that coalitions can be successful with a commitment to cooperation, service delivery, and humility.
GOOD, with its main support in the Western Cape, secured 42 council seats in the 2021 local polls, with 36 of them in the Western Cape.
De Lille is also a member of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet, serving as the tourism minister. Both De Lille and Herron resigned from the Democratic Alliance in 2018 and later formed the GOOD party.
