Cape Town — The Democratic Alliance (DA) intends to target more corrupt officials following the handover of a dossier alluding to corruption by Deputy President, Paul Mashatile.
During a visit to the Union Buildings, DA leader, John Steenhuisen, handed over a series of documents to the Presidency calling for Ramaphosa to immediately dismiss Mashatile, detailing his allegations of corruption.
“Given that President Ramaphosa has, to this day, failed to act against Mashatile by firing him from his executive post and subjecting him to a thorough investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), it is clear that President Ramaphosa has absolutely no will to address this scandal within his government,” Steenhuisen said.
Steenhuisen said this was only the start as they had other looters in sight and there was plenty more to come, The Citizen reported.
“We are very frustrated. Since the Zondo commission, no action has been taken against any of the people who were identified there, including the people in President Ramaphosa’s Cabinet.”

Steenhuisen called out Zizi Kodwa, Gwede Mantashe and several other members of Cabinet and felt that Ramaphosa should do what’s right and remove Mashatile from office, as its in the best interests of South Africans.
Steenhuisen said if Ramaphosa had kept the promise he made five years ago, there would be lifestyle audits for members of his Cabinet. He used Mbeki’s example of removing Zuma when he was involved in the Schabir Shaik allegations.
Steenhuisen said the DA was going after all the members implicated in the Zondo commission, including Mantashe.
“They may think they have got away with it because their president is not going to act against them, but we are not going let them get away with it,” said Steenhuisen.
