Cape Town — Opposition party, the Democratic Alliance (DA) believes its upcoming manifesto launch will be a real statement of intent, rather than a bunch of empty political promises.
The DA will launch its political manifesto on Saturday 17 February in Pretoria where the party will showcase its commitment to making real change in South Africa in a bid to rescue the country from the hands of the ANC, Federal Chair, Dr Ivan Meyer, said in a DA statement.
“n the last five years, we have witnessed the decay and decline of South Africa. President Ramaphosa’s promises, particularly on ending load-shedding, have proven to be nothing but empty rhetoric. The numbers paint a grim picture – rising poverty, swelling unemployment queues, and corruption reaching unprecedented levels.” Meyer said.
He cited the President’s example of Tintswalo – the child of democracy whom the president claimed was the pinnacle of the ANC’s success in the last 30 years. Meyer said it is not the dream the ANC promised and that the ANC has, instead, left the country with a crippling economy, starving children, rampant crime, and poor healthcare.

In addition, Meyer said the DA will not make empty promises and will use data to address South Africa’s current crises. Their plan focuses on fixing the electricity crisis, investing in education, and fostering an environment for economic growth.
“The manifesto launch on Saturday, 17 February, in Pretoria, is not merely symbolic; it’s a genuine statement of intent. The executive seat of government is where we set our sights because to govern South Africa, one must be ready to occupy the Union Buildings. With a presence in every province and town, the DA focuses on Pretoria, showcasing our readiness for the upcoming elections.” Meyer said.
“It’s time for a new government, a government led by the Democratic Alliance, a government that will put the people first. The DA’s manifesto launch is not just an event; it’s a historic moment, a rallying cry for change.” Meyer concluded.
The rally will feature renowned artists and a keynote speech by the party’s federal leader John Steenhuisen.
