Cape Town — The Democratic Alliance (DA) has found an ally in the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), as the two parties met to discuss coalition options in the Western Cape.
The two party leaders John Steenhuisen and Dr Pieter Groenewald, agreed that the unstable local African National Congress (ANC) coalition relationships are detrimental to affected communities and that any coalitions the two parties are part of, should be established, they said in a statement.
“This agreement also entails, among other things, that the FF Plus national party leader, Dr Groenewald, will meet with the federal and provincial leadership of the DA. Inputs from local leadership of affected municipalities will be collected to identify the origin of problems and to find amicable solutions,” it said.
The two parties are committed to ensuring the coalition will stabilise the Western Cape and other provinces to ensure service delivery and good municipal governance.
According to The Citizen, the meeting was to iron out differences that have surfaced in their previous municipal coalition since the elections. The two parties also hope to strengthen their partnership in Tshwane, as ActionSA has threatened to leave its abusive relationship with the DA.
