Cape Town — Economic Freedom Fighter’s (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, said President Cyril Ramaphosa is buying time for the African National Congress (ANC) by not announcing the election date.
Malema was speaking at a party press conference on Thursday at the Winnie Madikizela Mandela House in Johannesburg. He believed that Ramaphsoa was intentionally delaying the announcement of the elections, btu said it would not save the party and that the ANC were going to lose the elections, TimesLIVE reported.
“This guy [Ramaphosa] is hiding the thing [election date]. He’s not talking, he’s not budging. I don’t know, he thinks he can buy himself some time,” said Malema.
“Look, to see that you are dealing with a crook, the election date was announced during the state of the nation address in 2019. You know why he did that? Because he was still hot at the time. He knew that ‘I can’t postpone this, I must hit while the iron is still hot’. He announced it because he knew all ratings were like ‘the man’.” Malema said, alluding to the so-called “Ramaphoria” at the time.
Ramaphosa has kept his cards close to his chest and has shown no signs of announcing the date any time soon.

Malema has never held back in his assessment of the ANC and the work its done so far, highlighting many issues the party has failed to deliver on. During the EFF’s Political Manifesto, he touched on and array of issues that have blighted the country, all due to the ANC failing to fulfill its promises.
Among them included putting a permanent end to load shedding, creating job opportunities for the millions who are unemployed, and rebuilding the healthcare sector. He announced the party’s intentions to hold provincial manifesto’s throughout March. He also spoke about the violence in KZN, which he belives the ANC incited
Malema also added that the decision to suspend the EFF from attending SONA was another tactical move by the ANC and Ramaphosa to protect themselves.
