Cape Town — The African National Congress (ANC) treasurer-general, Gwen Ramokgopa, said it was important for the party to disclose the sources of their funding.
Speaking at the ANC’s Anniversary Gala Dinner, she said the party needed to find more ways of creating funds, going beyond fundraising, eNCA reported.
“We’ve gone beyond just fundraising. Fundraising is just but one of the outcomes. The main focus is to reach out to sectors and now we will be reaching through this presidential gala dinner to a sector that is hard to reach during our mass mobilisation and door-to-door and the pilgrimage we have taken,” she said.
During the ANC’s Presidential Golf Day, she said the main focus was how the party can rally around the Presidency’s theme of solidarity, equality and sustainable development, ahead of the G20 Summit next year.

According to TimeLIVE, Ramokgopa explained the importance of declaring political party funding.
She said it was important for parties to stress transparency to prevent covert or illicit fundings dealings that would imfluence decisions.
“We must declare and disclose political funding. That is important because we don’t want under-the-table dealings. We don’t want corruption. We don’t want brown envelopes,” said Ramokgopa.
She said political donations should be made public as to avoid any hidden agendas that could undermine democratic processes.
“Let’s haunt those who fund under the table because we don’t know what their intentions are,” she said.
