Cape Town – The ANC has condemned the “outlandish and outrageous demands” for specific cabinet posts and criticised the leaking of negotiation details among parties.
According to Times Live, the party, in a weakened position after losing recent elections, emphasised that the Government of National Unity (GNU) cannot be held hostage by any party.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said that the president has the final say on cabinet appointments and condemned the act of negotiating through media leaks as bad faith.
“Negotiating through leaking demands to the media is an act of bad faith and this practice will not help the cause of any party. The people need a government to be established sooner, rather than later,” the report quoted Bhengu-Motsiri as saying.
