Cape Town – The ANC’s highest decision-making body, the national executive committee (NEC) has reportedly disbanded the women’s league led by Bathabile Dlamini.
According to SABC, the disbandment came following recommendations from the party’s Task Team led by Thandi Modise and Nathi Mthethwa.
“The main reason for the disbandment of the Women’s League NEC is that the structure has been in office since 2015 and its five-year term of office had expired,” the report said.
EWN reported that the decision was taken at the ANC’s special NEC on Monday.

The NEC was convened to deliberate overdraft policy documents ahead of the party’s policy conference which was due to sit in the coming months.
“Most have rejected suggestions that league president and convicted perjurer, Bathabile Dlamini, be appointed as the convener of a task team,” the report said.
Times Live quoted ANC treasurer general Paul Mashatile as saying that the Women’s league will be replaced with a national task team (NTT).
“There was unanimity on the need to ensure the legitimacy of processes leading up to the national conference of the ANCWL. Accordingly, the NEC decided that the ANCWL [executive] should be disbanded …,” Mashatile said.
