Cape Town — The ANC expressed their joy at the ICJ’s ruling in favour of South Africa over Israel, as the party kicked off day one of their three-day National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Friday.
The ANC’s NEC will run from 26-28 January before they commence with a ‘Lekgotla’ from 28-29 January to discuss and map a programme of action for their year ahead. Both meetings are set to take place at Birchwood Hotel and the OR Tambo Conference Centre in Ekurhuleni to discuss a number of key issues that need to be discussed.
ANC secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, told the media that the NEC meeting and president Rampahosa’s political overview will reflect on the current state of the country, and that they will discuss various national and international affairs.
He said the NEC will discuss some of the things the organisation will do as they gear towards their political manifesto on 24 February and the report will also reflect on important internal and external organisational dimensions.
He said that the MK party and Jacob Zuma will also be discussed and the party will issue a public statement on their attitude towards Zuma and his role in the party.

EWN reported that 90 members of the party who were implicated in the Zondo State Capture Commission will face the party’s internal disciplinary committee. The commission is a body within the party that handles members whose actions may have brought it into disrepute.
Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe and Sports Minister Zizi Kodwa are some of the senior ANC members occupying prominent positions in government despite being implicated by the State Capture Commission.
Mbalula said all 90 members had already appeared before the Integrity Commission and their matters were now at the disciplinary stage.
“What will be discussed in terms of the Integrity Commission is to finalise the terms of reference of the Integrity Commission is to table the step-aside guidelines as adopted by the previous NEC for affirmation by the new NEC.” he said.
Meanwhile, the ANC proudly sat and watched as the ICJ ruled in favour of South Africa for provisional measures against Israel. The party celebrated what was an historic occasion in what will prove to be a turning point in the Gaza war.
