Cape Town – AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has appointed Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the mayor of Zululand District Municipality, as his traditional prime minister following the death of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
The announcement was made during the commemoration of the Battle of Isandlwana in Nquthu, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, SABC reported.
Inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza of the Amadunge Clan was also named as the deputy prime minister, praised for his past collaboration with the previous king and his dedication to traditional leadership in the province.

According to The Citizen, the newly appointed traditional prime minister has faced controversy during his tenure as Zululand mayor.
Within five months, he faced a motion of no-confidence and was accused of inciting political killings in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal, the report said.
