Cape Town — ActionSA leader, Herman Mashaba, outlined his party’s plan for the ‘Inclusive Economic Empowerment’ (IEE) policy to replace the current ‘elitist BBBEE’ policy.
In a statement, Mashaba said that the government has failed many South Africans with empty promises after 1994 when all South Africans were thought to play an equal role in growing South Africa’s democratic economy.
He pointed out that the country has now has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the world and how many South Africans have been denied the opportunity to experience what so many others have been able to do and get the opportunity to work.
Mashaba presented ActionSA’s plan to combat the unemployment barrier that so many South Africans face and presented the ‘IEE’ policy to build SA where equal opportunity is a reality for everyone.
“To this end, I am here to present our plan for inclusive economic empowerment, or “IEE”. Under our IEE approach, access to opportunity will be rapidly expanded for all South Africans still being excluded from economic activity ensuring true equality of opportunity, not just manipulated equality of outcome.” Mashaba said.
“ActionSA’s IEE approach is based on the basic principle that solving a problem requires understanding the root cause of that problem, rather than just addressing the symptoms.” he added.

The IEE approach would ensure that all South Africans have access to quality healthcare, quality education, reliable basic services, and safety and security. Under the new IEE policy, the party will introduce the Opportunity Fund, reform employment equity measures, adopt a universal basic income stimulus, address persistent spatial justice issues and promote social cohesion.
“As long as the correlation between race and access to opportunity remains, we cannot call ourselves a free society. The legacy of apartheid has been perpetuated by three decades of uncaring, corrupt and unpatriotic government. This must change.”
“Together, with your support and our relentless commitment, we will transform this vision into reality.” the party concluded.
