Cape Town – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to meet with African leaders in Africa to discuss Russia’s 18-month invasion of Ukraine.
After a previous visit by African heads of state to Kyiv, more leaders are expected to come for the meeting.
Zelenskyy believes that meeting in Africa will allow leaders to witness the consequences of the war firsthand, and he emphasized the importance of direct dialogue without media intervention, City Press reported.
“Why did we propose that it be my meeting on the territory of an African continent where leaders could come? Because it is important for the societies of your countries to see us, listen to us – hear us, I mean, hear – and be able to ask questions and get answers, and not through the media. It would be about directly raising questions, without preparation, talking, then analysing what is happening. And then finding the strength and courage to come to Ukraine and see what is happening here,” the report quoted him as saying.

He compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler, expressing anger towards his actions and accusing him of trying to annihilate dissenters.
Zelenskyy asserted that Ukraine will not negotiate with Russia over giving up its occupied territories.
Regarding Ukraine’s possible admission to Nato, he believes there is a pathway to membership and is confident in Ukraine eventually becoming a member.
He defended Ukraine’s request for cluster munitions, saying they need help to defend against Russia’s use of such weapons, and claimed they only use them for military purposes, not targeting civilians as Russia allegedly does.
