Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has warned Eskom’s new Group Chief Executive, Dan Marokane, that he will not succeed as long as Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan remains in office.
Eskom confirmed Marokane’s appointment on Friday, citing his experience in distressed organisations with turnaround mandates.
The power utility said he would start “no later than 31 March 2024”.

Malema congratulated Marokane on social media and criticised Gordhan, claiming interference in Eskom’s affairs.
“Congratulations Dan Marokane, the new Group Chief Executive of Eskom. You will never succeed if Jamnadas [Gordhan] remains the minister. I hope you won’t capitulate to his nonsense,” Malema said.
