Cape Town – A motorist, who was shot during a suspected attempted hijacking near Pretoria toll plaza, drove nearly 30km to seek help following the incident.
The man was allegedly shot near Diamond Hill toll plaza by armed men who tried to hijack his luxury vehicle, said Emer-G-Med in a statement.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Following the shooting, the man managed to evade the suspects and drove himself to Hatfield for help.
“Just after 1.45am this morning Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident in the Hatfield area of Pretoria. On arrival on the scene, a high-end luxury motor vehicle was found parked in a service station peppered with bullet holes,” read the statement.
The man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, he was treated and stabilised before being taken to a nearby hospital.
Police who were in attendance will be conducting an investigation, said Emer-G-Med.
