Cape Town – The body of an unidentified woman was reportedly found in the water at Macassar Beach in the Western Cape on Saturday morning.
According to News24, police were notified about the body floating in shallow waters at about 07:00.
Investigators and forensic experts were at the scene and the body was handed over to Pathology Forensic Services for examination.
“It does not look like the person is from Macassar, but we still need a full report to confirm this,” the report quoted Macassar Community Policing Forum spokesperson Russell Williams as saying.
He said that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
An inquest docket has since been opened.
In January this year, a passer-by made a grim discovery of a woman’s corpse on Camps Bay beach.
According to Sowetan Live, this was after a middle-aged female in a white bikini was reported missing there.
Police said at the time that the woman was declared dead on the scene by a medical crew.
