Cape Town – A Mpumalanga woman, 36, has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed her 13-year-old son to death during a domestic-related incident on Friday.
The woman also allegedly stabbed her eight-month-old daughter and her 63-year-old mother.
Police said in a statement that they acted swiftly after they were informed about the incident.
On arrival, they had to break a locked door to gain entry to the home where the incident occurred.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the body of the teenager was found in a pool of blood with visible stab wounds to his chest and neck.

“Upon gaining entrance, members discovered the body of the teenage boy lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the lounge. The slain victim had visible stab wounds on the chest and to his throat.
“Meanwhile the suspect’s mother was found hiding in the toilet also with a stab wound on her lower body whilst the injured baby was found in the same room with the suspect,” said Mdhluli.
The suspect was arrested and charged with murder as well as two counts of attempted murder.
She was expected to appear in the Volksrust district court.
