Cape Town – Police are investigating a case of murder following a shooting that killed a 49-year-old woman outside St George’s Hospital in Gqeberha on Sunday.
Carol Anne Magielies allegedly died at the hospital due to injuries sustained, reports said.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, the deceased was allegedly on her way to get into her transport after she had finished her shift when the incident occurred, PE Express reported.
“She was approached by an unknown suspect who pulled her aside and fired multiple shots at her. The suspect fled on foot and the deceased was rushed to hospital where she passed away,” the report quoted Janse van Rensburg as saying.

The report said no arrest had been made but investigations continued.
While the motive for the shooting remained unknown, bystanders alleged that Magielies’s ex-boyfriend might have been involved, reported HeraldLIVE.
Hospital management said the police had its full co-operation, adding that the hospital had been secured and remained safe for patients, staff and visitors, the report said.
