Cape Town – Bedfordview police in East Rand are investigating the murder of a 57-year-old woman who was shot dead on Friday evening.
Police discovered her body in a vehicle parked by the roadside with a broken window.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the woman had been shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
“The vehicle’s window was broken and the woman was shot on the side. She was certified dead on the scene,” said Kweza.
Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni has urged witnesses to come forward, emphasising that the killing of innocent women is unacceptable.
He assured the public that the police are committed to bringing the perpetrator/s to justice.
