Cape Town – The body of Magdeline Motlanthe, a missing woman from Limpopo, was found decapitated and decomposing in a shallow grave in Zebediela, police said on Tuesday.
It was revealed that she was kidnapped from her residence by suspects closely related to her, later killed, and buried.
“It transpired that Magdeline Motlanthe was kidnapped in her residence by suspects closely related to her and later killed and buried in a shallow grave in the bushes along Roedtan Road in Zebediela,” spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.
The investigation also uncovered that the body of a young man discovered earlier this month in a shallow grave in Apel was, in fact, the son of Magdeline.
Police suspected that the same individuals who kidnapped and murdered the mother also perpetrated the killing of her 31-year-old son, Nkgoropo Joseph Motlanthe.
Ledwaba said that the police investigation team arrested a foreign national and another individual, who is connected to the deceased mother and son.
“The suspects will be charged for double murder, house robbery and kidnapping, and are set to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon,” he said.
Police have not yet located the two vehicles owned by the deceased woman and her son.
The discovery of the mother’s body comes after the alarming discovery of 31-year-old Nkgoropo’s remains earlier this month.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to appear in court.
The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo has condemned the horrific incidents, and anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
