Cape Town – Basani Portia Shuma, 37, of Limpopo was reportedly tied behind her car and dragged for several kilometres by a mob before she died on Monday.
According to IOL, the incident occurred around 22:00.
Police received a complaint about a vigilante incident in the Salema village.
Upon their arrival, they discovered that the mob had tied Shuma to her motor vehicle and dragged her to the bushes.
Shuma was allegedly a money lender. She was accused by the village members of being responsible for the disappearance of a local man who went missing two weeks ago.

Police dispersed the mob by use of rubber bullets and rescued Shuma who was rushed to Malamulele Hospital. However, she died on arrival.
In addition, the mob torched Shuma’s home and damaged her car, News24 reported.
Police have since opened cases of murder, public violence, arson and malicious damage to property.
A manhunt for the suspects has also been launched.
