Cape Town – The Pretoria North District Court on Wednesday granted R3 000 bail to Natasha Beyers, 32, who allegedly murdered the father of her 7-year-old son over a cigarette on Valentine’s Day.
According to IOL, Beyers and her boyfriend got into an argument over a cigarette on February 14.
The argument led to the deceased assaulting Beyers, who subsequently stabbed him with a knife.
The man then drove away after locking Beyers in the house. However, he passed out while driving. The car lost control, veered off the road, and collided with a tree.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The Citizen reported that police went to Beyers’ house to inform her of her boyfriend’s death.
However, upon their arrival, Beyers was locked inside the house. She told the police that her boyfriend locked her inside.
The police found the house keys inside the deceased’s car and opened the door before informing Beyers about the death of her boyfriend.
“Beyers admitted to stabbing the deceased and [told] the police where the incident took place, and the weapon used. She was then arrested on the scene,” the report quoted North Gauteng regional spokesperson for the director of public prosecutions Lumka Mahanjana as saying.
