Cape Town – Entrepreneur, JP Van Der Spuy, said he will probably have to “fork out a couple of million” to repair his Ferrari, but was unphased by it saying that he’s “not a material kinda guy” after his car, driven by a friend, knocked into an Audi R8.
Speaking to News24, Van Der Spuy said that his Ferrari, worth around R8 million, will be fine. According to him, it’s “no biggie”.
He said that he wasn’t behind the wheel when the accident took place.
“I was not driving my car at the time, but my close friend was. The driver of the Audi is a very close friend of mine as well, and there is honestly no beef between any of us regarding the situation. Both of them were on their way home from the gym when the incident took place. I was not in the vehicle, but dashed down immediately when I got the call,” Van der Spuy was quoted as saying.
In an Instagram post by the entrepreneur, one of his friends involved in the crash said it was the best gym session they ever had.

As evident in the Instagram video, Van der Spuy said the trio spent the evening together, “chilling after the incident”.
He added that both drivers are perfectly fine and according to him, that is all that matters. The car is currently in repairs, estimated by the businessman to cost a few million.
From Van der Spuy’s understanding of the crash, he speculates that his friend who drove the Ferrari either accidentally clipped the accelerator while hitting the brake pedal or there was brake failure as the car shot forward at 30 kilometres per hour, hitting the audio in its rear.
