Cape Town – Kruger National Park (KNP) has reportedly pruned trees closer to the visitors’ units and closed holes after a couple found a python in the rafters of their bedroom during their visit to the park.
Reports said that the couple had possibly shared the room with the snake overnight.
According to the couple, they initially reported a leak from the ceiling of their room before spotting the python, reported The South African.
Mica Bafatakis said she and her boyfriend had gone for an afternoon nap in their room at Satara when they noticed the leakage, the report said.
“When water fell from the ceiling on my boyfriend’s leg, we reported a water leak to the reception and went for a beer. When we came back, I wanted to double-check the roof as I had a suspicion of a snake.

“When I looked up, it was a python in our roof – we slept with it the previous night,” the report quoted Bafatakis as saying.
KNP management was notified of the incident and the couple was offered another room but checked out the next day, TimesLIVE reported.
KNP spokesperson Isaac Phaahla said this was not the first incident of a snake being found by visitors; however, all efforts were being made to ensure visitors’ safety.
“Management is pruning trees closer to the visitors’ units and closing holes which have been opened by squirrels with wire mesh,” the report quoted Phaahla as saying.
