Cape Town – WhatsApp users across the world are reporting issues with the popular messaging app.
The app seems to be down. According to Reuters, a spokesperson for WhatsApp parent company Meta Platforms (META.O) said that Meta is aware of the issue.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” the spokesperson was reported as saying.
According to Downdetector, there has been a massive spike in WhatsApp complaints submitted in the past 24 hours.
WhatsApp users are facing difficulty sending and receiving messages. WhatsApp’s web service displays an error message.
WhatsApp became a trending topic on Twitter after users of the worldwide messaging took to other platforms to express their frustrations.
