Cape Town — Deputy President of the Patriotic Alliance (PA), Kenny Kunene, has added his voice and raised concerns regarding the nationality of Miss South Africa finalist, Chidimma Adetshina.
Adetshina’s citizenship has dominated social media narratives for the past week, after it was found that she was born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother, with Mozambican roots.
Patriotic Alliance leader, Gayton McKenzie, recently spoke out strongly on the issue and vowed to get to the bottom of the matter regarding her nationality.
“I just returned from Paris and will definitely get more information tomorrow, we truly cannot have Nigerians compete in our Miss SA competition. I wanna get all facts before I comment but it gives funny vibes already,” he said.

Now his deputy Kunene, has also questioned whether or not Adetshina was a South African citizen. He said it was a concern that Adetshina, herself, had not clarified the issue, he said in a statement.
He said that it was clear from the video in circulation that Adetshina’s family was Nigerian. He added that the Miss South Africa title should serve as an ambassador and represent young South African women, especially in international pageants such as Miss World or Miss Universe.
He also expressed concern over the “arrogance and entitlement” of Nigerians living in South Africa and warned that a Nigerian winning a South African pageant would exclude actual South Africans from representing their own country.
He vowed that the PA would get to the bottom of the issue.

According to IOL, Adetshina recently responded to a video featuring a man claiming to be her father. The man said that he moved to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup, which would mean Chidimma was already nine years old at that time.
The man is married to a South African woman.
The man said he has now been living in South Africa for more than 10 years already and, when asked if he had any children, he said he had a South African-born child who shares his surname, believed to be Chidimma. South Africans were convinced that the man was Adetshina’s father.
“It has been brought to my attention that there is an alleged interview going around about my father. The individual in question claiming and impersonating to be my dad is NOT MY FATHER. Thank you,” she wrote in an Instagram story.
