Cape Town – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party is unfazed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) declaring it public enemy number one.
Malema said the EFF was forging ahead with its plans to unseat the ANC in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Newly elected DA leader John Steenhuisen was quick to turn his focus to the 2024 national election and vowed to stop an ANC-EFF coalition government after he was re-elected to lead the party for a second term on Sunday at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
Steenhuisen urged DA supporters to ensure the party got a decisive victory in the 2024 elections.
He said that the DA’s mission was to vote the ANC out and block the EFF.
“Show them that only the DA is fighting to keep the EFF out. That way, voters don’t only have to believe what we say, they only have to through their own eyes see that when people vote DA and give us outright majorities, life gets better,” Steenhuisen said in his acceptance speech.

He added: “Given the fact that the ANC now officially co-governs with the EFF in parts of Gauteng, we need to start taking the threat of these parties ganging up to destroy our country in 2024 very, very seriously.”
“I want to be unequivocal about the DA’s view on this: the day that an ANC-EFF government takes over, it will be Doomsday for South Africa. The cold, hard truth is that the doomsday coalition between the ANC and EFF has already taken over Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni, with the help of its little proxies”
“EFF Doomsday will make the collapse of Zimbabwe look like a dress rehearsal, and will leave all South Africans destitute – black, coloured, white and Indian.
“That is why, during the remaining months before next year’s election, the DA will make it our number one priority – and do absolutely everything in our power – to prevent an ANC-EFF Doomsday Coalition from taking power.”
However, according to SABC, Malema remained unshaken by the attack.
He launched the party’s voter registration campaign in Diepsloot, Johannesburg and said the EFF planned to unseat the ANC.
“We do not speak about other people, we only speak about ourselves, we are in this election to win it, we are in this election to remove the ANC, what others do is their own business,” the report quoted Malema as saying.
