Cape Town – June Steenkamp, the mother of murdered model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp, is focusing on the foundation established to help victims of gender-based violence, a cause her daughter believed in, rather than the parole release of Oscar Pistorius.
The parole board directed Pistorius to undergo anger management courses during his correctional service.
Steenkamp questions whether there has been justice for Reeva and believes that no amount of time served will bring her daughter back.
“Has there been justice for Reeva? Has Oscar served enough time? There can never be justice if your loved one is never coming back and no amount of time served will bring Reeva back.

“We, who remain behind, are the ones serving a life sentence,” she said in a statement on Friday.
Her primary desire is to live her last years in peace, focusing on the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation to continue Reeva’s legacy.
“With the release of Oscar Pistorius on parole, my only desire is that I will be allowed to live my last years in peace with my focus remaining on the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation to continue Reeva’s legacy,” she said.
Pistorius has been released on parole, and it is confirmed that he is now in the system of community corrections, residing with his uncle and aunt in Waterkloof, Pretoria.
