Cape Town – A 13-year-old boy who was left in a critical condition after he was hit by a speeding taxi early last month in Coronationville, Johannesburg, has reportedly died.
Ethan Sass was repoetdly fetching water from a tanker when the tragic accident happened.
The teenager had been battling for his life at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital since the incident, News24 reported.
His father, Fabian, confirmed that he died around 19:00 on Wednesday, the report said.
“We are not coping,” Fabian was quoted as saying.

Ethan was collecting water from a water truck on Fuel road, as Johannesburg Water had failed to supply running water to homes and businesses in several parts of the city over the past few weeks.
The reckless driver attempted to speed off but was stopped by community members, reported The Citizen.
“I saw my son laying there, blood coming out of his eyes, nose, mouth and ears. I immediately rushed and got my car, I went back and put a neck brace on him. As soon as I put it on, I had to make a decision as a father because I could see that he was not breathing properly,” said Sass at the time. according to the report.
The teen was rushed to the Helen Joseph Hospital.
He suffered brain damage, collapsed lungs and doctors at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit – where he was later transferred to – had placed him on a ventilator.
His school, Everest Primary School, said they had lost “a truly lovable, kind, humble and talented soul”.
“One more star will rise in the sky tonight as heaven receives another angel; We have lost a beautiful soul but our loss is heaven’s gain.
