Cape Town — Johannesburg bus services, Metrobus, says it is currently working hard to resume services again following a disruption to get commuters to work and school again.
Metrobus released a statement confirming that bus operations were forced to stop when several employees embarked on an illegal strike, wit the strike spilling over into Thursday too. Management said they are making every effort to ensure services are restored as soon as possible.

According to the company’s Tshepo Nathan, the drivers were disgruntled over persisting issues of wage disputes and shift selection, EWN reported.
“We are dealing with an illegal strike that commenced yesterday. A number of employees brought to demands to management and an agreement could not be met. Unfortunately, this has affected the operations of the entity.”
The company said that, due to the security risk, and fears of intimidation by the drivers, the nerve centre of operations would be closed until services are resumed.
“It became quite clear that acts of intimidation have happened such that employees that wanted to do their work but could not do so. We apologise in that regard profusely to all our commuters for this inconvenience.”
