Cape Town – Three people were reportedly shot and critically wounded when a group of armed robbers allegedly opened fire at patrons at a restaurant in Durban on Thursday.
According to Emer-G-Med, the incident occurred at a popular Italian restaurant on Browns Drift Road in Umgeni Park.
“On arrival on scene, three people were found to have sustained critical gunshot wounds. Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise them before they were taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals,” said Emer-G-Med.
Christopher Mark V Lowe who survived the “terrifying brutal instance of drama” shared details of the ordeal on his Facebook page.

He said five aggressive men strode into the packed restaurant before shots were fired.
“We all hit the floor and guns were put to our heads. Besides the shooting of customers, so many people were ‘relieved’ of their wallets, jewellery and other valuables,” Lowe said.
Lowe said he was still shocked but glad to be home safe after the ordeal.
“We left an ongoing crime scene shocked and shaky, but just grateful to be alive,” he said.
