Cape Town – Strong winds in the Western Cape caused a truck trailer component to be blown off the N1 near the Huguenot Tunnel outside Paarl.

The Huguenot Tunnel was closed for assessment and rescue operations, reports said.
According to IOL, Mike Vinello-Lippert, the project manager overseeing the Huguenot Tunnel for the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral), the truck driver is unharmed and out of danger.
Additionally, other roads such as Baden Powell Drive and Chapmans Peak Drive were closed due to adverse weather conditions, including sandstorms.

The City of Cape Town is on high alert due to weather warnings of heavy downpours, strong winds, and cold temperatures.
The South African Weather Service also warned of unusual weather conditions affecting coastal areas along the south-west to south-east coastline.
